February 1 is World Galgo Day, as it marks the beginning of the end of the hunting season in Spain. Many Galgos live in terrible conditions, and then are cruelly abandoned or killed in horrendous ways.
GPNL would like to recognize the tireless efforts of the volunteer rescue groups in Spain that are overwhelmed with so many Galgos each year, as well as the international groups in Canada and elsewhere that work so hard to fundraise and find the Galgos more homes abroad.
In honour of the Galgos, GPNL have made a donation to 112 Carlota Galgos for their Sparkle Program, created to help the most vulnerable Galgos find loving homes; the seniors and special needs, but they all need homes.
If you are interested in adopting, please reach out at 112 Carlota Galgos or Carlotta Galgos Rescue Canada.
